Sports Competitions
Your School Games
The School Games provides a competitive school sport programme to all young people across the UK. It is funded by Sport England and delivered by the Youth Sports Trust through its network of School Games Organisers (SGOs) and Local Organising Committees (LOCs).
Stimpson Avenue Academy has achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2018/19 academic year.
In Northamptonshire Sport, there are five school sport partnerships. Stimpson Avenue Academy is part of the Northamptonshire School Sport Partnership run by School Sport Manager Natalie Lawrence and School Sport Development Officer Andy Cavill and based at Northampton Academy. Their role is to support and enhance the quality and range of sporting opportunities on offer to us. They do this through providing the first three of four levels or types of competitions:
- Level 1: Intra-school competition: a sporting activity between pupils in Stimpson Avenue Academy e.g. inter-class games, inter-house games, sports days
- Level 2: Inter-school competition: a sporting fixture or competition between schools from the same area (e.g. a one off game, a league). They can be run as a festival event, developmental competition or qualifier for a county final.
- Level 3: County Final competition: a sporting event finale for qualifiers from Level 2 inter-school competitions
- Level 4: School Games National Finals
