Stimpson Avenue Academy House Point System
What are houses and house points?
House points form part of our whole school reward system at Stimpson Avenue Academy. It encourages a team ethos across the school and allows children of all ages to have a common goal.
Every child, from Reception to Year 6, is organised into one of four houses: Holmes, Drew, Marple and Sherlock. These house names were chosen by pupils; they decided to focus on detectives as they considered themselves to be ‘learning detectives.’
How are house points earned?
House points are given out as recognition of achievement by individual children. They will include things such as:
- Demonstrating one of our school values:
- Respect
- Collaboration
- Resilience
- Friendship
- Independence
- Responsibility
- Team Spirit
- Honesty
- Creativity
- Kindness
- Aspiration
- An excellent piece of classwork or homework
- Contributing around school
- Sporting achievement or participation
When a pupil earns a house point, they will collect a house point token and add to their class’ token collector. These will then be added to the house point tubes.
At the end of each term, the tokens will be totalled and the winning team awarded with the house cup.
