Statutory Information and Policies
All policies at EMAT are intended to guide the work of the staff to provide a framework for the smooth functioning of each school based in a shared understanding of the trust’s strategic plan and vision. Policies address the practical implications of how to achieve this vision and are a key means of ensuring that agreed values underpin day-to-day decisions and actions in our schools. They are concerned with key processes within schools and are about interactions between school, pupils, parents and community. They are about ensuring highly effective teaching and learning, about safety and about basic human rights.
Statutory policies cover major strategic areas required by law, as stated by the Government's Statutory Policies for Schools document (November 2019). These policies are issued and ratified by the EMAT board of trustees and adopted by all schools. Occasionally, trustees will issue additional policies covering further areas, not required by law. Schools will also adopt these policies.
All EMAT policies are reviewed annually or bi-annually in accordance to our 'review of statutory policies and documents' These policies/documents are listed under ‘Trust Policies’, ‘GDPR /Privacy Notices’ and ‘Finance Information’ Additional policies covering other aspects of school life or specific subject areas of the curriculum are discretionary. These policies are prepared by the Headteacher of each school and ratified by the Local Advisory Board.
Schools policies are reviewed annually or bi-annually in accordance to each school 'review of policies document' These policies are listed under ‘School Policies’
