Junior Leadership Team
Learning about British Values is a fundamental part of life at Stimpson Avenue Academy, as we prepare our pupils for being responsible members of society.
Our Junior Leadership Team (JLT) is the living, breathing embodiment of those values.
Two members of each year group, from Year 1 to Year 6, are democratically elected by their classmates to assume additional responsibilities and make the world a better place.
The JLT meet once a month and, each during the school year, there are always lots of items on the agenda. Last year, the JLT worked hard upon creating a child-friendly anti-bullying policy, worked with the lunchtime staff to develop halal friendly menu options, supported younger children with healthy lunches and created a buddy bench in the playground, in case anyone ever feels lonely. The JLT thrive on this added responsibility.
This year, the JLT are concentrating efforts upon Stimpson Avenue being an even more inclusive school. Senior members have even become part of a restorative justice forum that look to support school friends that need help, with the focus always being upon collaboration.
Members of the JLT are 'litter wombles' once a week, we have visited The Guildhall and have met our local MP. The JLT have met with staff members and represented the school at Pupil Parliaments. The JLT also nominate a charity each year. This year fundraising is being shared between the RSPCA and The McCarthy-Dixon Foundation.
