Pupils and staff at Stimpson Avenue Academy are celebrating after receiving a prestigious Artsmark Gold Award for its strong teaching of arts and culture.
Artsmark is a quality standard for schools, accredited by Arts Council England, who demonstrate a commitment to embedding arts, culture and creativity across the whole curriculum.
Stimpson Avenue Academy, part of East Midlands Academy Trust, was recognised for its broad and ambitious arts curriculum for all pupils, from nursery through to Year 6.
The Artsmark assessor said: “As a school with such amazing diversity within its community, from languages spoken to experiences and needs, you have been able to celebrate the different backgrounds and experiences of your pupils as an integral part of your creative and cultural development.”
The school’s art lead Claire Gilbert said: “We’re extremely proud of achieving our Artsmark Gold Award, which recognises our commitment to delivering a high-quality arts and cultural education.
“Our Artsmark journey has ensured that the curriculum remains broad and reflects the wonderfully diverse community within our school. Our special thanks go to Sue Green for her tireless work in ensuring that art is celebrated throughout the school.”
