Children at Stimpson Avenue Academy enjoyed a visit from a range of creepy crawlies as part of their activities for British Science Week this week.
The school in Northampton hosted Dave Sharpe from Raptor Xotics and his collection of creatures, including a hissing cockroach, giant land snails, a bearded dragon, a blond desert tarantula, a tree snake and an owl. Executive headteacher Zoe McIntyre said: “The children absolutely loved their sessions with Dave and his collection of creatures.
Some were braver than others when it came to touching the animals, but they all really enjoyed learning more about them.
“It was a fantastic way for us to bring science to life for the children and encourage them to develop a love of science and the natural world.”
Pupils will be taking part in a range of science-themed activities throughout the week, including a special assembly and a poster competition. A massive thank you to our science co-ordinator Mrs Carroll for organising this!
